I was going to add this to my other condo thread, but this idea is a bit different… Taking inspiration from playing Sims 4, I present to you: Tower Unite Neighborhoods: the Lots update.
INTRO:
Let’s face it, no matter how fine tuned you guys make a prefab condo, they’re never going to be a one size fits all solution that is going to appeal to every player’s tastes. Instead, I think focus should shift to the area surrounding the build area completely. Many of my condos are completely indoors just because building an outside world consumes so much time and condo assets (performance). I feel these would bring more creativity out of people.
HOW IT WORKS:
This would open up a new category in Horizons: Lots. Players would be able to buy empty lots in existing prefab “neighborhoods”, similar to House Condo. They’d be border restricted so non of the scenery would need collision or like backs or anything. They’ll basically be Smooth Dirts with atmosphere around them like Ice Moon.
LOT EXAMPLES:
VACANT LOTS
The first one’s a no-brainer, and you could literally make it in minutes. Just take the House Condo, and remove the house, leaving and empty lot to build in.
After that, other climates would be cool. A lot in desert climate neighborhood, or one up in the winter mountains, out in the woods.
PENTHOUSE
A completely empty wall-less box atop a skyscraper, players can custom build their own single floor plan. Built in emergency staircase and elevator for rooftop patio access.
Deluxe Penthouse: Same as above but you also get the floor below it as well.
COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS
Basic lots that just include a parking lot and a generic shaped empty “abandoned” commercial building. Restaurants, generic box buildings, a strip mall, etc. Just basic bare bones shit people can build in. Completely empty open floor plans.
CO-OP LOTS
Lots specifically designed for friends to build together. The above mentioned strip mall would be in this category, as people could build in each shop front. Another idea would be multiple vacant lots in a neighborhood, like maybe you can buy a single vacant lot, or the version with 2 lots, or 4, so each player has a vacant lot in the prefab neighborhood. Maybe an empty apartment building, or even event ones like an empty county fairgrounds where the ferris wheel and a static working coaster are built in.
FUTURE IMPLEMENTATION
These types of maps could also be integrated into when we FINALLY get the blueprint system. People would be able to build their lot, save it, and move it into a friend’s neighborhood, which would be a lot smooth than trying to build it in co-op hosting. The more skilled builders could even do commissions for players and make them cool stuff that’s still theirs to build in, unlike workshop condos.
