There’s been an issue with the lighting in the house condo on my end since 0.4.2.0. Originally I thought it was an issue on my end that could be solved by validating the game’s cache or reinstalling. Neither of those seem to have changed anything.
At one point I recall everything being lit up and easy to see in, but that changed at some point. I’m certain that it began during 0.4.2.0 where the shadows became incredibly dark and made it difficult to see. This most recent update seems to have fixed most of the outside lighting and a handful of spots indoors, but some are still pretty dark.
I’ve only had issues with the lighting on this particular condo and I’ve tried changing the wall colors to the brightest white to see if it was something to do with eye exposure but there wasn’t much change. At this point I’m not sure if this is a bug or if intentional. I’m going to say it’s not as even the new basement is super dark in it’s first room.
I’ve had my shadow quality on Ultra. I tried cycling through every option to see if there was any difference and Low seemed to be the only option with a major change.
I wish I had an older screenshot of the living room to act as a comparison, but I only have screenshots of another room in my condo. Here is what this particular room looked like before and after the update (with an extra day picture).
The colors seem to be more saturated and the shadows seem to be a lot more darker. The window has this weird deep blue tint during clear nights too. I haven’t adjusted any of the lighting or my settings, as it has always been set on Ultra with AA off. All of the rooms in my condo are darker now to the point where I can’t really read some of my posters on the wall in some rooms. I’ll probably try changing the color of the walls but regardless it is an issue that I’ve also encountered.
