If a Steam Deck user is playing Tower Unite and puts their Steam Deck console into Hibernation mode, on resuming Tower Unite the game & console both become unstable/unresponsive. The only way to restore functionality is to hard reset the console by holding the power button down, releasing it after the power status light flashes, and pressing the power button once more to power the console back up which initiates a system check.
Steps to Reproduce
Start Tower Unite on Steam Deck.
Connect to active Lobby.
Press power button on Steam Deck console to place console into Hibernation mode.
Wait for console to “go dark”.
Press power button on Steam Deck console to wake console.
Wait for wake-up animation to play.
User will be returned to the home screen of Tower Unite but all user inputs are unresponsive.
If user has functionality of the “Steam” button, and attempts to shut down or reset the console using menu options the console will act as if it is powering off but seems to be hung on the process and never fully shuts down, requiring the user to hold the power button down to hard reset the console.
What I expected to happen
Tower Unite returns the user to the home screen with a disconnect/reconnect message, and the console shouldn’t become unresponsive.
What happened
If the bug manifests it requires a hard reset of the console which kicks off a system check.
Notes / Media
In the end it’s probably best to avoid hibernation mode, but it would be nice to not have this require a hard-reset on the off chance it does happen.
