Edit: What I described as being related to distance I actually think is just related to the item finder scrolling. All of my fixes boil down to the fact that names do not update unless you scroll down on the item finder then back up.
Item names do not consistently change in Item Finder
Steps to Reproduce
- Stand close to an item
- Name the item
- Look in the item finder list. The item will not have a name or will have the last name that was set prior to you renaming it.
What I expected to happen
For the item finder to show the new item name
What happened
The item finder will show the old name up until a point. I do not know what all of the triggers are for updating the name but one I have found is as follows:
Rename item. Get far away from item. At a certain distance the name will update. Sometimes you need to change the sort option for it to update at this point.
The name will also instantly update in the item finder if you are already far away so it really does seem to come down to distance.
Edit: Another way I found to update the name is to rename in edit menu, close edit menu, then search for the item name and it will update. However I have also found that if Group is toggled on, the name updates even less frequently and searching does not fix it.
I have found another trigger for updating the names. If you scroll down on the item finder then back up, the name will update. However closing the item finder and opening it does not update names.
