[whatever version I started with] Typing Derby Ignores Input

It completely ignores my typing no matter how slow of fast I type.

I have tried:
Alt tabbing a few times,
holding q and clicking in the screen,
Pressing the first letter and waiting
Holding Tab and clicking the screen
Right clicking
Killing myself to get out of the game,
Smashing space
Screaming at it
Crying
opening chat before playing
not opening chat before playing

None of the above work.

Have you tried using caps locks, typing in Typing Derby is case sensitive.
