Weekly Dev Log for August 24th, 2020

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for August 24th, 2020, detailing all the changes that have happened since August 17th, 2020. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

Update 0.11.0.0

Work continues on getting the next update, 0.11.0.0 ready for release. This update will contain Workshop Condos, which will allow players to upload their condo to the Steam Workshop for other players to download and explore. To see everything that’s slated for this update, click here!

Workshop Condos

@macdguy continued working this week on Workshop Condos, creating systems to save, upload, download, and view condos on Steam Workshop. He also started working on the canvas data system, which will pack all of the canvases into the workshop file when the condo is uploaded to Steam Workshop, to prevent the possibility of dead links.

Miscellany

@joshua continued working on the model for one of the Arcade NPCs, along with a new rocket launcher item.

@Johanna worked on implementing the new Oasis store into the Plaza.

@macdguy worked on a better Weapon FOV system, allowing for the scale of weapons to be adjusted independently of the screen FOV.

@Madmijk continued working on the snapping system for items.

@Sketchman continued working on the Undo system for Condos. This week he added undo support for Emitters, Lights, Light Stands, Fog, Projectors, Signs, Stairs, Surfaces, MultiMeshes, Teleporters, Launchers, Workshop Items, Sound Emitters, NPCs, and Targets. He also finished actor aliasing so that placing objects can be undone/redone, and worked on integrating the undo logging into the Inventory UI. Aside from the undo system, he continued working on the player grouping system.

@Wheezwer continued working on art for the Maze Spinner game in the Arcade, now named “Prismatic”, as well as finishing the Game Worlds Ports Mural Art for the Accelerate and Ball Race ports.

Wow! The track 2 art for pine valley is simply amazing! I really like the cave, looks beautiful! I really like the new look of the oasis store as well! Looks cartoony! I’m also really excited for workshop condos, can’t wait to see the creativity the community brings!

Hey, whens the dev test happening, can’t wait to drop by

Finally. Making jump maps, minigolf/ballrace tracks in condos has sense now.

What happens if you download a condo and don’t have all the items that it has. Will it ask you to buy the rest? Load it without the ones you don’t have? or not work?

You don’t need to own the items, it’ll just load them. You won’t be able to edit the map.

Will you be able to add items though?

How are consumables treated? Will they automatically be non-consumables?

For the first release, you will not be able to. Though, we have discussed adding this feature.

They will spawn like normal items, eating them will cause them to stay eaten until the map is reloaded.
