Suggestion Forum: Votes VS Likes

I’ve noticed many times when making a suggestion thread, people will like the post, but not vote for it. Perhaps there should be a way to mitigate this from happening?

In the end, the actual merit of an idea carries it the furthest, but still, you guys said that voted show what the community is interested in the most.

I see the vote as a “That’d be a neat thing to have”, and a vote + like as a “HOLY COW WE NEED THIS”, atleast that’s how I do it.

So to avoid confusion, recommend everyone to vote for something first, and then like it if they feel like doing so?

I generally just throw a like on posts I vote for. To me, a vote means you want the suggestion implemented and a like means you like the post (that being how likes work on any other post). Since you liked the suggestion enough to vote for it, it’s likely you also like the post. Hence, a like generally follows my vote.
