Some Ideas on How to Improve the Milestone System

I noticed most bad reviews on Steam about TU I’ve seen mention how getting the milestones feels too grindy, so I came up with a few systems that could potentially work better than the current system.

Suggestion 1: Milestones From Achievements
This would work exactly the same as GMod Tower’s milestones. Some achievements would give a milestone, for example: pressing the dragon’s button 150 times in LC would give you the knight skin, using the adrenaline 100 times would give you the adrenaline, etc.

Suggestion 2: Milestones from Achievements and EXP
This would be like Suggestion 1, but the milestones would also be earnable with exp. If you already got an item from achievements, getting the exp needed for that item would give you a few gameworld catsacks, and vice versa.

Suggestion 3: Milestones From Missions
This would be like Suggestion 1, but rather than rewarding achievements from regular achievements you could select missions (like the contracts in TF2) to choose milestone items to work for. The missions wouldn’t count progress you’ve made before starting them (like buttons pressed as the knight in LC, or infections in Virus).

Suggestion 4: Buying Milestones With EXP
This would be like the current way that EXP works, but you would save up EXP earned in the games to buy whatever milestone you’d like. Some milestones would cost more than others.

i’d just like more filler rewards during the massive xp gaps; talking about things like 10k units, 1x silver catsack, or an item that relates to the minigame like free bait for fishing.

imo, the milestone system works well as it is; it encourages people to take part in different activities and minigames instead of sticking to one that is the most profitable (looking at you casino). the only problem with it is that the rewards are separated by 100k xp gaps, sometimes even 200k; the solution here is to just make those gaps seem smaller with filler rewards so you always have something to aim for that isn’t hours away.

The original plan (which should happen when we’re done with most of the upgrades) was that you get rewarded between the milestones with game world catsacks. That’ll help the grindy feel. But the main issue I think is games like Plaza and Casino. We should ditch the timer approach (or leave it) and make game events give out EXP.

Will some of the upgrades work like the gmt milestones, like playing all the space themed things: virus space map/maps, lobby 1 moon, mini golf space map (I forgot it’s name) and such should give you some more space themed upgrades.

At least something, since I can remember in gmt I would be like “I want the bumper” and I could work directly towards that milestone without having to wait to unlock 6 milestones first that I’m less interested in. Plus having something like “bump yourself 500 times and unlock a bumper” feels more fun and specialised to work towards than just generically playing and getting stuff, which feels like “oh you got x amount of exp now, uhh lets me just give you this thing I guess”
The milestone system can’t really change much now, but I hope some upgrades are unlock like the gmt milestones were unlocked.
