For this build, I really wanted to capture the essence of a small town in the south, specifically one you would stumble upon while driving along the highway on a road trip. A staple of rural areas is the random family-owned cafe or restaurant with a little gas station/rest-stop right next to it, usually converted from abandoned buildings. Also, for overall theming, I was going for a rainy fall day in October 1988, right before Halloween.
The Moonstone Cafe is based on Mikaela Reid, one of my favorite survivors from the game, Dead by Daylight. The logo, cafe name, and color scheme are based on her character, but beyond that, I took creative liberty. I wanted to capture that “weird” energy as much as possible, so I focused on aliens, cryptids, witchcraft, and generally spooky themes to decorate the cafe.
Rowdy Rex Fossil Fuels is a gas station that is completely original in its name and design. I simply wanted the theme to be.. dinosaurs!! Because dinosaurs are awesome.
