I noticed 2 “problems” with the current drifting system:

When hopping you physically jump and the drift starts once you land. This makes the hop duration dependent on the ground and wether or not it’s a slope going up or down. While this technically increases the skill ceiling it’s not really a fun mechanic. A fixed time like in Mario Kart feels much better IMO.
(I think you already said this is a bug) -
Steering in during a drift seems to be the same as not steering at all. I think if you start a drift and don’t steer in any direction it shouldn’t turn as much as it does right now.
Also driving and turning backwards seems to be broken. But I think that’s simply not fully implemented yet.
