Default Player Model: Ambiguous Anthro

Disclaimer: (This idea is a collaboration with a friend that originally, they are the ones should be making this topic.

They have a better idea to suggest it so I’m just sharing my original thought before me and a buddy were talking about this.)

We have animal ears and tails now.

And if there’s more to come, I would love it if we have another default model that is an anthro that is ambiguous. So we have to get the equipments to just to get the animal look we like. (Fox ears and Fox Tail to make a fox)

I love the style of TU. I love default models too, I feel limited without clothes. The fox ears and tail gave me an idea.

(Even though I’m suggesting as someone have a deersona lol)

In short, please make a ambiguous furry to use animal equipments on!

Side tangent: I should also make a topic about getting clothes for defaults too, it’ll give defaults a appealing option!

(I don’t hate workshop models, I love being a copyrighted character lol)

bruh

I love furries, being one myself, but I think I’m gonna pass this one. I dunno how I really like this. Furries are also damn controversial for all of the praise and popularity they get and have - Many game devs, especially smaller ones, refuse to add any furry related content to their games - I tried suggesting a coloring book specifically for furries for Coloring Pixels, a game where you just sit down and color pixels to relax once - The devs said they don’t want to risk their reputation coming down on them but they were respectful about it, they explained clearly why they don’t want to do it and that until furries become more accepted, it’s not something they want to risk. I just fear that adding this to Tower would stir up a lot of dramas and cause hate on the game, community and developers more than there already is, because for as big a group as furries are in society, there is a ton of people who hate them for many reasons or just severely dislike them, and those people who guard themselves off from those communities seem to be the bigger part of the population than actual furries themselves. This is by no means backed by any research or whatever, it’s just observations about common things on the internet from years of living online and being a furry myself.

furries are only controversial among very closed minded people - especially so online. i don’t think anyone’s reputation is on the line if companies like disney are able to make zootopia (which, to be clear, I do not like at all, but is popular) - i think that’s just a poor excuse.

that said, i don’t know that this game’s art style would do much justice for this idea, and there’s a lot of furry models on the workshop already.

I mean, that’s at least a better reason to wonder about the sense (or lack thereof) for adding something like this to the game. Still, can you really blame a person for worrying, when this is so widespread? Sure, a lot of it is online, but I will be damned if I haven’t heard stories of furry hate extending to the real world as well, and while a lot of it has to do with claims of a certain word beginning with zoo, people really just tend to view us as weird, and many other such things anyway. I get what you are saying though, it’s not like I’m not, because I’m personally almost always against hating something just for the sake of hating it, or because it’s popular to hate on something but I mean.. I still uphold my opinion that it could be problematic. About the only reason I can think of for why Workshop being filled with furries isn’t problematic right now is because the game is absurdly tiny when it comes to the playerbase - But were it ever to become more popular and widely played or recognized, I can assure you we would start seeing people raising pitchforks because “why is there so much furry stuff” - In fact, even right now, this is already a thing, though it’s limited to small groups of people or some communities that play Tower. This kind of concern simply put shouldn’t just be shoved aside - Whether or not it makes sense to hate on furries doesn’t take away from the fact that this hate exists, online or not, and many games and communities that try to introduce furries if they never associated with them before tend to get hit - It’s not all of them, of course, but it happens often enough that I believe the worry is warranted, which is why I wrote up the earlier warning that this REALLY wouldn’t be the best of ideas. I don’t want to imagine the gates to Hell that would be opened upon the current community and PixelTail were the game more popular and it was actively promoting furries, though at the same time, I guess it’s not anybody’s fault that not everyone can see what would almost certainly happen. Also, the comparison with Disney and Zootopia.. I don’t know what to tell you, except, look up how much controversy Zootopia generates on it’s own via the more or less indirect association with furry communities - I think you really picked a poor comparison here, because yeah, most people don’t complain, but let me tell you, I have seen PLENTY of people and communities get attacked because of that one Disney production and it being used in furry communities, which creates that association movie depicting anthropomorphic animals = furries. It happens, whether you realise it or not, or whether you care to look into it or not.
