Custom Posters

We showed this off in the stream, but it’s more mature now.

Yes, it loads images from the internet and currently supports PNG, BMP, and JPG.

Hope you like it!

Awesome! I can’t wait to use this feature.

would it work with Randimg?
Gif support?

They stated that PNG, JPG and BPM are only currently supported. In terms of Randimg, yes, all you need is the direct URL of an image. If you want the direct URL of an image, just right click on an image you see online and then click ‘Copy image URL.’

Well yeah, but what I want to know is if I use a randimg link, will it actually use a different image every time I go to my condo?

Here, click me multiple times.

I couldn’t tell you anything for certain, seeing as I’m not a developer, but I don’t think it would work simply because the URL you linked to redirects you. My guess is that the poster either won’t display anything since the source URL has no image, or else it will redirect the URL and the poster will use the redirected URL instead and will only display from the new URL.

It will probably display the image chosen at random. @Arkive86

Continuing the discussion from Custom Posters:

No gif support? I know its unreal to have moving poster, but... you know its just a game.

GIF support seems more likely to be a feature for the ingame TVs and tablets than the canvas.

wait what?
What is this feature?

I’m pretty sure by tables he means like an iPad, or some sort of large hand-held touch screen device.

Well yeah, that’s given by tablet, but what will it do?

It’ll have support to view GIFs on an in-game tablet, I assume.

I`ve found example of picture that will be used in many condos.

http:// (I have put spacebar, because there isn`t spoiler funtion yet.)

Immediately walk out of the condo in disgust.

My condo is now confirmed to be a tiny closet with that picture in an 8x10 photo frame on a desk.

@macdguy What about a rule of no explicit images? Say if someone sees a poster that has an explicit or racist or bad picture, then you can report it as explicit, then maybe give the guy like a week ban or something? to me that seems like the easiest option other than the parental controls or asking if you want it to be viewed.

Also someone said something about TVs in the comments so the feature of each person being able to turn the TV off for their view will still exit in TU?

Manually banning people is much more difficult than implementing parental controls. Especially with a lot more players arriving for tower unite.

I guess yeah, but I still like the idea of choosing whether to view their custom art or being warned about it, maybe If the company gets bigger they could do that.

Parental controls and a set of user based filters are about the most we’re planning for preventing bad imagery. We don’t want to be moderating people.
