In the plaza, sitting down on something makes all your cosmetics disappear. This also happens after playing some of the games in the plaza. Sometimes they re-equip themselves when you stand, but if not, manually re-equipping stuff or resetting does seem to fix it until you sit again or play another plaza game (not sure which honestly).
This is likely actually due to the wearables being resized when you sit down. It’s listed as a bug that will be fixed in the Upcoming Bug Fixes card on the Trello:
