Condo Hub, No Privates/Friends

So I’ve noticed in the past that sometimes my server wouldn’t show up on the Condo Hub board. I figured it was a bug or lagging behind and shrugged it off since people still found it in the ESC menu list. Today it happened again, and I looked around the hub and realized every floor was occupied. So I go through the ESC list and realize there’s a bunch of condos like mine not listed in Hub and the in-Hub board only shows the condos physically present in the Condo Hub.

The problem with this is that floors 4 and 5 are nearly ENTIRELY private condos, currently taking up spaces for no reason. Why do these show up in the condo hub? I vote Private and Friends Only condos shouldn’t take up a slot in the Condo Hub.

Currently, as I type this 33 out of 68 Condo Hub slots are not accessible to players. That’s nearly HALF of Condo Hub’s spots blocked off from players hosting public condos. There are currently 49 active PUBLIC condos, meaning 16 condos are getting shafted from being featured on the Condo Hub board.

Tbh I kinda agree with this somewhat. If a Condo is friends-only or private, it does pose problems when trying to enter via the hub.

However, the only problem I have on this is that removing the ability to have Friends-Only and Singleplayer/Private instances visible in the Hub is it removes the ability of event hosters to be able to start up a condo privately to prepare, then open the doors at a later point.

Personally what I would prefer is a solution similar to the Gameworld Ports: Make the current Condo hub a Global Condo Hub, one that only shows Public and Dedicated instances, with Plaza-based hubs showing Public, Friends-only, and Private instances. You could even work it into the structure of the Plaza by having it be based on the island adjacent to the Plaza itself, with the Monorail having a stop on it, while the plaza-based one could be resituated in the tower like it used to be a while back.

A big portion of condos are empty dedicated servers you can’t join. If those didn’t appear, there would be a lot more space.

Actually, I think they’ve been tweaking the backend lately. I’ve noticed Condo Hub signs displaying more properly now, and when a new public condo opens, it replaces a Private one in the hub, which it wasn’t doing when I made this post.

It would be so when you go public it pops up in hub.

Friends Condos should stay, entirely private ones shouldn’t. That’s my take.

Why can’t you join them? Are they just dedis that were set up and then not updated? If so, it’d be easy for Mac to just make it so only the current version of the game shows up in condo list.

They already have a system built for it, they’ve yet to roll it out.

ah, yeah, condos that haven’t updated and don’t match the client’s version shouldn’t show up at all in the lists.
