How do you use the canvas

Same, im not sure how to use canvas
Go into your condo, hold Q then with your mouse goto your hotbar & drag the canvas to your wall. Go up to it & press “E”. Might have to be in first person to do it.

It needs to be a direct link to an image on the internet. As of now, I do not believe you can use local images saved to your machine.
I’ve noticed a few different people ask this recently. It should probably have some sort of tutorial for it, even if it’s just in the item description, or a tag.
It does say in the text box “Paste URL here”
Just use Imgur or something like that
