When you start, you can choose the next custom map, but between the rounds, the maps suggested keep the same. so maybe add a browse map button with slightly more choosing time, or make the Maps after the top 20 or so to “trending”
this is in my opinion Important for all the game modes
Feels like it’s better that way so that the suggestions added by other people remain consistent and not constantly changing. Adding that would just make the voting menu a mess of 100 different maps to vote for. It makes sense as it is, that is, as long as I’m understanding how the current system is working and the suggestion itself properly.
Issue is that newer maps get bogged down by the old maps. The top of workshop maps are always the maps that came out first when each SDK came out, meaning that people late to map-building will never see their map become popular since no one can vote for it.
Allowing the host to pick the voteable maps would be a better system, so it prevents people from picking laggy or bad maps that float to the top because they came out first.
That sounds like an issue with the system prioritizing old things though, not something that requires an whole new system - Just rework the current one to make the problem go away and make an better Workshop browsing experience in general - Not just maps but everything Workshop related, since improving the existing system would probably affect everything. My main problem is just the potential lack of an limit for adding as much voteable custom maps as they want - If this was to become a thing, just add some hard limit to how many maps there can be for voting, including default maps in that limit, like say, 20, 25 or some number like that.
For example, I made several golf maps, and a friend also made 2 maps. so we played one of my maps from the start (map browse) how do we play his? so we have to disconnect, and start all over again to play his map
I think a thing worth considering to do with this would be so that maps added through Workshop browsing are queued into voting list and an limit to amount of maps that can be in voting at once should be in place. Again, the big problem I see with this is that map voting would be an inconsistent mess - Too many maps to choose from for voting. I don’t think none of those concerns have been addressed so far, so please, at least make this optional if you do add this.
