With the recent additions of the new DIY objects (door frames, window frames, etc.) I realized some sort of ability to browse the other versions of an object while previewing it in a shop could be beneficial to newer players. For example, being able to browse the other available shapes (the variations) for the new window frame item.
This could probably get really complicated for items that have a giant amount of customization available, so there’s two potential ways this could get implemented:
- A simple but limited way that allows players to preview different variations of an object, without being able to see every single customization option that an object may have built in. (This would be the simple and more straight-forward option, but this still wouldn’t showcase every customization option an item contains, and would also likely mean every single item that has different variations would need to be manually set up for this new feature)
- A maybe slightly less user-friendly way that allows you to click a button to view every single customization option an object contains (basically showing the player the entire edit menu for that object). Players could also be allowed to tweak with the objects settings while previewing it in the shop to see what could be made with it.
Personally, I feel the second option would be more interesting, but I fear that showcasing every single option in the shop menu may be a bit much for some players. Still could potentially be an interesting feature to add in post 1.0.
