2 extra bones using supplied rig

i remember having solved this problem before, but i can’t figure it out again. admittedly i do not have much experience with blender but i know i fixed this exact problem once before. i think it had to do with “armature” appearing twice above the root bone? i’ll keep trying to mess with it myself in the meantime. thanks


It seems like you have multiple objects parented to the armature, instead of just one object. Join them together into one item parented to the armature, and it should work.

i just figured it out. the creator of the model supplied me with a .blend file that contained an animation, and upon import to TU, UE was creating extra bones because of the animation. i managed to remove the animation completely, and UE stopped creating the extra bones.
