[1.0.0.0 / 1.0.0.1 / 1.0.1.0 / 1.0.2.0] Cannot save condo snapshots

Whenever I try to save a snapshot of my condo it seems to work just fine, but when I reenter the condo and load the snapshot, it hasn’t been saved at all and is instead the previous version of that snapshot.

Steps to Reproduce

Step 1: Enter your condo
Step 2: Alter something
Step 3: Save a snapshot
Step 4: Exit your condo
Step 5: Reenter your condo

Step 6: Load the snapshot

What I expected to happen

For the changes I did to be there.

What happened

The previous version of the condo being loaded instead of the version I had saved, removing the changes I had done.

I have tried this out within the 1.0.0.1 beta and it seems to still be an issue there too, unfortunately. Hoping this can get fixed once it comes out fully.

I have realized something. Snapshots do not save anymore but the save to file button still works.
While I do hope the snapshots are fixed at some point, I am glad that I can continue working on my condo using the save to file feature.

EDIT: I have discovered an issue that makes this solution no longer viable. Autosaves - for some reason - now load snapshots instead of actually saving, which means any progress I do make on my condo will be erased as soon as it autosaves (or rather, autoloads).

ensure that your steam remote data does not exceed 1gb
this link should send you to a page where you can see your data size for each game. Tower will not save if this remote storage across all games exceeds 1gb.

I’m not fully sure if all of the stuff on the page adds up to 1 GB as there doesn’t seem to be an option to check the storage used up in total, just the storage used up individually. I do appreciate the pointer, however! I will keep this page in mind.

Question regarding this, if my cloud storage did exceed 1GB, how would I deal with that? Not finding any options to delete anything on that page, unfortunately.

I am now 99% certain that this bug isn’t caused by the cloud storage. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game a couple of days ago, to see if that might fix it. It unfortunately didn’t work.

I have been constantly verifying the game files yet nothing seems to be wrong according to it, since nothing changes when I do that.

I’ve still yet to find the fix or cause for these two bugs. They’re also in the public beta too. Hoping it gets fixed in the near future.

update: still broken, sadly.

I was wrong about this, it only applies to Tower’s cloud save size, not all combined.

Have you tried messing with your files in the steamapps\common\Tower Unite\Tower\Backups\Condos* folders? I would try making a backup copy of one of that whole folder, and then emptying it completely and trying again

i’ve made a backup of the folder yet i haven’t messed around with it too much, i’ll give it a shot

despite the original folder being completely empty, the game is somehow pulling from something when it comes to snapshots as nothing has seemingly changed - dear god it feels like i’m in interloper right now

also, the bug is still there - unfortunately

I’m going to move this to support. This issue isn’t a bug with the game as Steam Cloud and snapshots are saving for several players and staff.

As other people have mentioned. I’d try clearing your cloud folder. You’ll have to find it though and open it while the game is running in a window, then move the files out of it, then close the game to upload the changes to Steam Cloud.

The folder is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\

Then in one of the numbered folders (use the most recently modified folder)

Then navigate to 394690\remote\Condos from there.

I just tried this, same thing as

happened. After taking another snapshot just to be safe, I let it sit for a minute, took another snapshot, closed the game through the menus, and watched Steam upload to Steam Cloud. Upon reopening Tower Unite, and loading the same condo, the snapshot that loaded was not the previous one saved 2 or 3 minutes ago, but one saved from the other day when I had last worked on it.

Is it best just to not save to Steam Cloud at this point?

Quick reply in case someone else finds this thread, do make a backup, I tried emptying it completely and readding all my files back as suggested, turning off Steam Cloud and trying it again. Loading from Snapshots didn’t work, it just kept the default Smooth Dirt. Loading from file did load what I had saved previous (in this case the 2 or 3 minutes as mentioned above).

I guess for now, anyone else reading this and DillonVentures, don’t rely on Steam Cloud. Instead use Save to file and Load from file.
