[0.12.1.1] Sound in main menu but not in lobby

My friend has sound in the main menu and instead of the nice clicks you hear when you mouse over the icons, its a harsh noise that sounds like someones unplugging and plugging in there headset. once he joins the plaza or anything else, he loses all audio. we’ve tried reinstalling, verifying the files, checking out his PC, but nothing works.

Do they have an AMD GPU?

He has an Nivida RTX 2070 with an AMD CPU
