Was doing a little achievement grinding to get the 5 dizzy jackpots so I was hopping from one machine to the next to avoid waiting for it to let me play again after a miss, and I got the jackpot on one machine but nearly instantly left it after pressing spacebar, and it gave me a partial payout of roughly 20, instead of the full 300ish jackpot payout it should have given me. Seems like the normal long payout animation is actually tied to how many tickets you actually receive.
