What will be the price of the new underwater condo?

I don’t really get this. Can you not separate a difference between something that is expensive and grindy, and something which is expensive and grindy to an excessive extent? We need to strike a reasonable balance here, and in my opinion 300k-500k is just absurd. 250k Is already plenty expensive and would be the most expensive item in the game by 100k only second to the paper hat. (Which is a joke item)

Why does it NEED to go even further beyond that? That’s still grindy, that’s still expensive.

I like the high price TBH. Gives you something to work towards

yeah I agree. If everyone has it then it’s not special

My point is why is 200-300k not something to work towards? Why does it have to be this arbitrarily high amount when something below 300-500k would still be a high price and something to work towards.

The house was $150k and is significantly smaller than the underwater condo, so I think that the underwater condo should be more expensive.

And 100-150k extra isn’t already considered expensive? The latter would already be double the price of the house.

I forgot how much a lot of money is. But like I said before, the underwater condo is significantly bigger than the house condo which justifies it being more expensive.

Edit: I didn’t mean to say that in a dickish way

it makes for a harder, more time-consuming goal and that’s a good thing. At this time there’s hardly anything I’d want to spend my Units on

By that mentality let’s rake the price to five million units so you can grind forever, thereby solving the problem.

that’s an overkill
I think ~400k works nicely

Based on what?

On my own estimate

Relative to what though?

Well, I got 100k without even grinding
400k sound like something I could potentially grind for

We get it dude, you’re not gonna listen to anyone that ain’t gonna agree with you. Most everyone else posting here thinks the estimated price is reasonable and reachable. If you want something more “affordable”, go for one of the cheaper condos and spruce it up as much as you please.

EDIT: As for why we say the price is reasonable, it’s on several factors. The size of the condo itself (as compaired to say, the classic GMod Tower Suite), the effort the developers are putting into making the condo itself, the sheer detail of the condo, and the location.

I think it would be hard pressed to argue that this is the most detailed to date, between the underwater area, above water area, and the condo itself. Not to mention that it’s BELOW WATER. Not a flat plane, or an island, or a closed suite. Imagine for a moment if you were actually looking for a home irl, underwater hotels are (even just partially submerged) incredibly expensive to rent for a night compared to an apartment or house in the suburbs you could buy.

Now, imagine that even more of the purchasable products in TU follow this formula of Units = time + detail + effort. We’re talking having to model three “separate” large zones, adding in details like rails and coral and light. Then add in texturing ALL OF IT. And coding animations from anything to the ocean, doors, to the plants (and maybe fish) in the water itself.

Now compare that to what they did with the neighborhood home condo. They’re already cutting everyone some slack by just making 500k at most (and we thank you all for that) so that it’s still available with reasonable time and effort without diminishing everything put into it in the first place.

Can you see what we’re getting at now?

I’ll listen to people, but I’m going to ask for justifications when person number fifty comes in here going “yeah 500k is reasonable” without putting forward a substantive argument or reading into the discussion like you have.

I’m arguing for reasonable pricing, not for the underwater condo to become a welfare center. Expensive is fine, with that said I remember that this is a game, and that not everyone who plays it has the time to relentlessly grind, or finds joy in a massive grind of up to half a million units, in short I’m advocating for balance. A lot of work is going into this, I’m not denying that, and as an amateur developer I can appreciate the amount of time something like this takes. That is exactly why I’ve argued that the price should be double that of the current most expensive condo. Out of reach to the average player, available to dedicated players who are willing to invest the time to really earn it. That doesn’t mean that the price should be overkill. Regardless of the effort that is going into this, Tower Unite is still a game and condos can’t be equated to the price of actual real estate as the rules and considerations of the game world are entirely different to real life.

Dumping an extra 100-200k onto that figure which is already a high price, and already out of the reach of most players in the short term because “oh it’s okay because I like grind” doesn’t strike me as a considerate or particularly sensible reason for having a price of up to 500k.

If it was like 5m units, then yes, I would agree that it would be overkill. However, even at the max of 500k (while a lot of units), is a reasonable number to reach. Playing a full 10 round of Virus usually awards about 10k units (probably the highest paying gameworld and imo I would buff the other ones). The obvious most efficient way of grinding the casino can get you units even faster.

Also, keep in mind this is NOT something that everyone should have. If you really want your own, work for it. If not, you can join someone else’s condo.
