Things I Miss From GMT

I have to give TU a chance because its still in development.
But… Don’t you miss the flash games. The basically abandoned casino. The computers had an OS. Etc.
Also TU is currently kinda… a bit linear with its shops.
Also it’s just funny that the board at project 12 has beer written on it like 5 times, yet they don’t sell it

Are you trying to start a flamewar with that title?

No, they’re still available online. And playing them in the Steam in-game browser wasn’t the best thing ever.

Hell no.

That was pretty pointless IMO.

Tower Unite will have I/O interfaces, plenty of condo customization and generally more support.

People who love GMT simply love it because its nostalgic. That’s about it.

I like how u capitalized GMT but lowercased “tu”, like we didn’t know your feelings already as to what u thought was superior.

It was only the iMac, and that one ran on some online OS service, forgot how it’s called
also edited the title so it is no longer biased (completely unnecessary change but who cares)

Don’t you miss the flash games

No not really and besides the arcade has already been shown to have unique games using the new coded OS.

The basically abandoned casino

Definitely not, at least now I see some interaction amongst players sat next to each other.

The computers had an OS

This is actually in development, perhaps you should watch some of their dev streams sometime…
The new OS also allows for some advanced stuff that GMT could only dream of.

TU is currently kinda…a bit linear with its shops

I don’t even know what you mean by that, you want the shop to be complex and hard to understand or simplistic with ease of access…Because I’m pretty sure most if not all will choose the last.

Edit
By the way, not personally jabbing at you. But from the history of your suggestions and posts you should probably check their current development as a lot of the things you’re suggesting and discussing is in the works…

The entirety of GMT wasn’t built in a year, and the same goes for TU. Give them time to create everything and it’ll all smooth out, become more like what used to be, but even better.

The flash games were cool, but not really engaging for others as you would just see people staring at a blank arcade screen. If I remember correctly, the arcade in GMT was only popular because of Blockles and the completely broken Trivia. TU has a much better and dynamic Trivia and we are building the most ambitious Arcade in a multiplayer game ever.

The Casino has not been abandoned. We spent over 3 months on the Casino and it is one of the only online multiplayer Casino games that you can watch every players game in real time. It is highly engaging and our most polished Plaza activity. I also just fixed some core Poker bugs recently.

Zak has been working on the 2D arcade API which allows us to make complex games and programs that rival GMT’s. The best part about the new API is we are giving it out to everyone so they can write their own applications in Lua and put it up on Workshop for everyone in Tower Unite to play. It does more than GMT could ever do.

I am not sure about linear stores. The stores are very similar to GMT’s except now they have a shopping cart and you can buy more than one item at a time. It also has a 3D preview of the items you are buying.

Not since I started a round of “The last Stand” and was AFK-kicked from GMT in the middle of it. Flash apparently doesn’t tell the game that there are inputs.

I’ll have back Blockles any day though. STILL regret not being part of the highscore, damn you sudden lag spikes!

IIRC the games opened in the Steam browser, which took all the inputs away (in the same way opening the Steam overlay does)

The Flash games actually opened in a custom browser system we wrote. But yes, flash took input and there was no way to intercept the input back to the game.

ah, thanks for clarification
I obviously never spent too much time in the old arcade :d
