There's a huge gambling problem in TU

Over half of the server was in the casino. I believe these people have an addiction to the casino.
We should stop this. It’s time to stop. Stop this. Get them some help.

Imagine if PixelTail temporarily shut the casino down…

The player count would go from 500 to 50!

The perfect April Fool’s prank: Disable all the casino machines and leave a sign in the front labelled “This is an intervention.”

one of these threads again?
Tower Unite is a game. Games are supposed to give you enjoyment. People enjoy playing in the casino.
Please stop complaining about people liking different in-game activities than you.
Plus, they’re betting Units, not real money

It is a game, but the fact that a large number of people in the TU community go to the casino and gamble virtual money rather than playing minigames to earn units shows a significant influence towards those people and could possibly encourage real life gambling.

We need to encourage the players to play games not just to earn virtual currency to spend on a condo and accessories, but to have fun as well, and the only fun in gambling is actually winning a jackpot, which is a slim chance.

look at frankfurt servers…
over 80% is at the casino
all the time

HEy its scruffy from gmt

I suppose milestones will bring some gamblers the interests on playing gaemmodes again. Even if it’s just a temporary solution.

If people like playing in the casino you shouldn’t “encourage” them to do other things. That’s bad game design. Players should be encouraged to do what they find fun.

Also, if someone gets addicted to real-life gambling after playing TU, that’s their own fault. You have to draw the line yourself and if you can’t do that, you’d get addicted to gambling either way, TU or not.

False. I’m currently there and there’s 31 player, with 10 of them in the Casino. Less than 50% so stop with your false statistics, just because you don’t like people going to the casino

I always gamble between waiting for the next game world to start

Well seeing as the Casino is the best way to get more money for condo customisation, plus there being very little TO DO at the plaza. There’s no wonder why most of the server will be in the casino.

I believe when there’s much more things to do at the plaza, such as bumper cars, a refined bowling experience, arcade, etc. You’ll see the casino players drop.

This. If they made like a fake PSA it’d be nearly perfect.

Consider these points:

  • Casino is the only minigame that can be played as a psuedo AFK-game. Watching youtube, streams, talking to friends? It’s cool, just spam the space bar for a bit. It’s not that we have a gambling addiction, it’s that if you so much as blink away from bowling it will skip your turn.

  • While most games require playing in decent groups to be any fun, casino can be done alone while waiting for friends to come online. The fact that some of the games (2 of them, to be precise), are decent ways to make credits is a bonus.

I honestly think it has more to do with the idle-ability of Casino compared to the other games than anything else. It’s so easy to just hangout pressing space while watching videos, occasionally pressing the “are you there?” key it wants. You can do it one handed too! Eat some breakfast/dinner/late-night-snack. It’s great.

Low time commitment, low attention requirement, and a passive bonus of earning you some dosh while you wait around. The real question is "Why aren’t more people in the casino?

“Why aren’t more people in the casino?”

Tower Unite is mainly a social and fun game, not entirely a gambling simulator.
As other people said, when other features come out like more minigames, boardwalk games, the arcade, and more, then the number of casino players will probably drop, whether it’s short or long-term.
Gambling is luck-based, never skill-based. It’s good that people earn money from the casino on occasional terms, but if they were at it for days straight, then others would probably question how much time those people were wasting on the casino that’s a sub-part of Tower Unite rather than something productive like competitive games or even real-life careers. If someone becomes overly-attached to luck-based games with no skill required, then it becomes or can be seen as an addiction.
Someone previously said that we should let them do what they want as long as it contributes a player base to the game. That’s not a positive way to look at it, but it works. But will it work in the long run? We don’t know that for sure since more content is still being added and the casino can be seen as a past-time activity that can be done while waiting for new content, and new content could encourage casino players to pause or stop gambling. Maybe it depends on how beneficial, or profitable, the new content is for players. Whether the problem will be solved or not, it will change one way or the another, that’s for sure.
Even with all this said, I can’t stop people from gambling, but I don’t want to shut down the casino either as I use it occasionally, but not for hours or even days straight. This is basically a small awareness spread.

ever heard of shitposting?

I know what shitposting is, but what does it have to do with anything…?
