Regarding Piano Macros

Due to all the scares about Macros recently I’d like to ask about the current state of using them in your Condo to play the Piano.
I used to make alot of macros with my keyboards software just to hear songs I liked played via piano and it was fun, I don’t see this as an advantage because you don’t earn anything from playing a piano and I just don’t want to have a VAC ban if I ever did use them on my piano again.
This would also completely trash some cool programs people have been working on to automate MIDI files to piano if it isn’t allowed.

VAC bans only happen if you’re injecting something into your game.

Macros aren’t allowed, but I don’t think @macdguy is going to go breaking into people’s condos and watch them play the piano to make sure they’re not using any. I’d say using macros in the casino or outside of your condo is the reason for the rule, I don’t think anyone cares about the piano macros.

You can pretty much do anything outside the official server so you should be ok.

Well they have stated that technically condos are your own little server which means you can make your own rules in the condo, so you could easily just make a rule that says "macros on pianos are allowed as long as they arent used to spam random notes (in other words, not playing songs).

I know about the Condos are you own stuff but I think it would still be good to hear an official clarification about this specific thing still

well like i said, they have stated the condo is your own little server, effectively allowing you to make your own rules for said condos, so you could easily allow macros on a piano, or you could just learn to play the songs.

Aren’t macros against the EULA, though? This would mean that it wouldn’t matter whether you were on an official server or your own server; it’s still a part of the game. I hope something like this is fine, though, since it really is harmless.

Obviously I can’t give the official word. A dev will need to do that.

They say it is but i haven’t been able to find the EULA and confirm it, i will be able to soon.

Nope it dosen’t say anything about macros, but it does mention automative software such as bots or autoclickers (note i said auto clickers not keypressers).

From the EULA:

Hacking into the executable of TU or any other use of TU in connection with the creation, development, or use of any such unauthorized Cheats are prohibited under this EULA. Cheats include, but are not limited to:

  • programs that tamper with/modify Units, restrict other players from earning Units through gameplay, or enable the farming of Units;
  • programs that allow players to see through walls or other level geometry (software or hardware “wall hacks”);
  • programs that let players change their rate of speed outside the allowable limits of TU (“speed hacks”);
  • programs that crash any other players, PC clients, or network servers;
  • automation software (bots and/or autoclickers);
  • programs that automatically target other players or that automatically simulate any other player input to gain an advantage over other players (“aimbots”);
  • or any other program or modification that functions in a similar capacity or allows any prohibited conduct.

It’s not under the official server rules, it’s in the general EULA, so I’d say it’s against the rules. Hopefully the devs do at least add some sort of auto-piano in-game though.

Yes, autoCLICKERS, that’s software that simulates a signal from your mouse.

also i think you missed my comment,

Just saying.
Anyway a bot isnt exactly a macro, its more sort of a script that can automate a process of commands for you.

That still falls under automation software.

True bots do.

Although in my eyes a macro is more or less a piece of information you can put in an excel document to make say a tax spreadsheet.

Edit: to be honest peoples definition of this might vary, alot.

Regarding the Piano players, I made a post asking if it was allowed. The piano players are allowed as far as I am aware, my piano player wouldn’t exist at all if it was not. I asked specifically because of the EULA point that some of you have pointed out. I know that the developers have said nothing on the matter, but they should be aware of them as of now and could’ve said something. But of cause, if the devs goes out and announce that piano players aren’t allowed, I will no longer work on mine.

Regards.

That part covers macros. They are against the EULA. Macros are automation software.

Personally, I would find piano macros in condo okay, but be careful with certain tools as VAC could ban you as Condos are VAC protected at the moment.

That will only be a problem if your macro injects/changes bits in the game.

Thank you for the response, now I can play piano in peace :yum:

Will there ever be a chance to make non VAC protected Condos? I’m not sure if Synapse would trigger VAC in any way so I still wouldn’t feel safe using it now.
