Huh, so… Just 3 days before GMT shut down
My brother were watching GMT in youtube
(link to the youtuber https://www.youtube.com/user/Bladii309, he’s a youtuber from my contury, so don’t mind me if you don’t understand anything), and he really wanted to play it (we had GMOD unistalled). He were annoying while watching this (he was calling me to come and watch). Mid March 2016 (estimate)
He told me so much to watch it so i’d watched it and really liked it. End Of March
I have installed GMOD in the morning (6AM) and installed GMOD (Downloading took 2H) and then i went to GMT website and… (before i watched how to get GMT)
I were confused… and i didn’t know what is that “Tower Unite” thingy, i though when i heard about tower unite for actual first time (on YT) that is a remake of GMT (on gmod) by different pepole.
When i went more “In-depth” i heard about GMT shutting down and Tower Unite being made.
I woke up my brother and told him about it… he was crying…
BUT, that’s not the end of my story.
I phoned my dad and told him to buy me “Paysafe Card” with 20 EURO.
I then bought TU at like 18:30, and downloaded it (It took 4H…).
And then i started playing Tower (0.1.1.2).
Fun Fact: while i bought TU for my brother… HE ACTUALLY DID PLAY IT 2 TIMES XDDD
In while playing TU i met some players like @Agent2583, 16-BIT Blast Process, @Radek, Few times i spottet @AshGe, and recently i spotted @AmGonaKOYou101 and @CalculatorSpoon, i also met many more players .
Recently i’m not playing tower that often like when i just got it because it got just a little bit “Boring”.
Also i little fun fact about me: I more liked TU when casino weren’t yet released (LMAO)
a friend told me about a new gmod project that was due to release way back in summer '09 on JokerIce build’s server. Remember reading about the initial briefing years before on Facepunch and thinking it was impossible. Went on to the website and saw it had a working arcade. Sold instantly.
Gmod Tower was this cool new project back in around 09 that was happening when I was going through a rough patch in my life. Ultimately with how bleak everything seemed a sense of community was exactly what I needed at the time, and this cool new innovative gamemode for Gmod with arcades, a youtube theater, and a 100 player cap per server sounded awesome.
Eventually it became my go to virtual hangout place, with lots of really interesting things happening over the years. I spent a few July 4ths in it and a few new years celebrations came and went, with memorable things like obama cutout concerts and fireworks shows. It was a place where I could just unwind and hang out with my friends who didn’t live near me.
The time I had in Gmod Tower was so special to me in a way not much is. As far as I’m concerned what happened there was an entire era of my life. I’m glad I had plenty of screenshots from it left over from steam so I could frame them on a room in my Tower Unite condo to remember them, but there are some images that are lost to time due to the screenshot uploading service that I put a lot of them on going offline forever since steam screenshotting wasn’t always a feature, like the times I ran into Gmod machinima celebrities I idolized at the time like Dasboschitt and 1337Caleb (Now known as oxcjae).
Man, Dasboschitt was the most terrifying person I ever ran into in PvP before or since. He was like a fucking ninja, by the time you saw him on your screen you’d be already dead. Like, it got to the point where if people saw him off in the distance, they didn’t engage with him, they just tried to avoid him. There was also this one girl who played who I think was one of the admins at the time, can’t remember if they used a renamon or hatsune miku player model, who was just as dangerous, especially in Ultimate Chimera Hunt.
I’m so glad Tower Unite exists, I can’t wait till it has all of the gamemodes. I’m really missing Zombie Massacre and UCH, but luckily at the time I make this post Little Crusaders is apparently pretty close to being done.
I was surfing around gmod, I found something called gmtower in the server list and caught my eye. I searched it on google before playing, looked VERY fun! I got the addons and joined right in. Was greeted with a lot of friendly people, I made TONS of friends. When Tower Unite came, I was happy but sad at the same time to see gmt go, it was a happy moment for the devs! I bought Tower Unite the second it released, downloaded and got the executable error. The devs pushed out an update within five minutes with the game. And I love Tower, forever.
I was at my friend’s house back in 09 and he got on and showed me the server. Not knowing much about GMod at the time, I thought the dev team created all of tower in sandbox. I was so impressed I got the game and hopped on, never to return
Not even the Sassafras servers could hold my interest as long as GMT did.
I believe the year was 2012-ish, near Christmas time. I was watching the Yogscast live-stream (and yes, I know most of us came here from it) and after they showed Gmod Tower, I thought, “That looks fucking great” So I hopped on Garry’s Mod and downloaded everything needed. It took fucking HOURS to finish, but when it did, I had a whale of a time. Loved every second of it. I was shit at most gamemodes, with Zombie Massacre as my favorite, and PVP Battle as my second. Did not like Source Karts, did not care about it at all.
But alas, all good things must come to an end…
My PC had a heart attack and just flat out died in like 2013
1-2 years later… (or 2014-15)
Whoopee, new computer! First thing I did after installing shit was play Garry’s Mod. Didn’t even try to see if it installed correctly, just straight to Gmod Tower. Lobby 2 looked fucking great.
Then GMT was nearing shut down…
…Yeah, I skipped the goodbye party and just played the shit out of Tower Unite. And I have ever since.
It all started in 2012 or 2013.
I was looking for some servers to play on, and then i found Gmod Tower. I downloaded all of the content and then i joined the server.
2015
Sorry that i skipped a year. Anyway, Lobby 2 came out. I went into the server and i was confused. Probably the best thing about Lobby 2 was the water slides. Then i heard about Tower Unite from going to the main plaza area and seeing the big TV outside. I couldn’t donate to the Kickstarter or the IndieGoGo but i did vote for it on Steam Greenlight. But then my laptop broke and it took me a whole year to get a actual PC
2016
Got my PC. Installed Gmod ready to play. Then i see that the servers not there. Thats when i realized TU was out. So basically i couldn’t come to the Gmod Tower goodbye party. Then i have been playing Tower Unite ever since
I’m pretty sure that I had been spending a lot of time on various Cinema servers and discovered it by accident. Cue days of my life wasted–spent on one of the most unique MMOs I’ve ever played. I can’t hop on Tower Unite as often due to time and Linux instability, but I still love it.
Im just boring and wanna buy some nice games

Back in 2009, I saw gameplay for Garry’s Mod Tower in a YouTube video.
It looked fun, but I only had a pirated copy of Garry’s Mod.
Christmas 2009 comes and I finally bought Garry’s Mod and the Orange Box more or less just to play GMT. The community and minigames were enjoyable. It got me hooked
I found out about Chimera Hunt and being a huge Mother series fan I wanted to play, and at the time the only server that was actively playing it was through gmod tower. And I explored and found that all the gmc I earn through playing so much Chimera Hunt could be used to decorate your condo and I was hooked.
