Daily Dev Log for October 6th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, October 6th, 2017.
@Zak wrote the entirety of the chat parser last night, discussed connecting the global chat implementation to chat UI with @Foohy, and went to a doctor's appointment.
@macdguy continued working on the Plaza Minigames / Events. Today he added sound effects for the Ghost and Balloon Minigames. He also added support to play 2D sounds in sync with the 3D sounds so players get better feedback. The ghost shooting minigame was finished, and he made a gun (not a model, the code for a weapon) for the spooky shooting spree minigame. He implemented Zak's balloon sound effects, added music to the minigames, added a startup delay to the minigames, and added a start and end notification sound that plays when a minigame starts and ends. He also fixed an issue where minigames (and Typing Derby) music would be replicated properly to late joining players, and fixed several issues and playtested the minigames.
He also re-enabled the dialogue system for stores. He fixed an issue with dialogue events for when you stand near a store NPC, the Stray's dialogue was finished (and in the game now), and setup dialogue events when there's a store sale or minigame event.
Aside from those, he improved the look of the living lobby player, and went through every weapon, fixing their offsets, reload times, and animations where applicable due to weapon changes that @Krionikal did.
@Foohy added a new blueprint node for @macdguy for finding a Steam ID from a community name, and discussed global chat implementation with @Zak.
@Lifeless continued working on the rail-based shooting gallery.
@Matt created a new balloon shader to utilize subsurface scattering, and continued creating art tests for Zombie Massacre.
@Madmijk tweaked the Halloween item from yesterday, and tediously added all trees to the item manifest.
@Johanna finished the high poly and low poly models of the new Sonic Shotgun for Virus. She then began setting up the UVWs for the new Sonic Shotgun to prepare for baking.
@Caboose700 edited the parental control word filter list, approved and rejected Trivia questions, and worked with @Foohy to identify an issue with the Dedicated Servers, creating the new server builds and pushing them out.
@Wergulz finished the new zombie alert animation, exported the animations from this week and committed them, and continued working on the crawl animation from last week.
@donglekumquat continued working on music for Zombie Massacre, continued working on music for the Plaza, and continued setting up his room.
@Krionikal worked on a Halloween item.
@Deniz continued debugging the ¼ screen bug.
