Daily Dev Log for November 5th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, November 5th, 2017.
@Zak continued working on Steam Workshop support, adding physics and collision support to workshop models. He also added a convex collision visualizer to the mesh renderer, and programmed the model compiler to breakup meshes properly.
@macdguy started working on fishing again, talking in length about the gameplay mechanics. He dumped the initial prototype because it was trash, and started creating a new prototype for the gameplay. Fishing rod usability was improved, instead of holding back to toss, you just click. The Fishing rod no longer locks the view, so you can move the bobber around to a valid location while casted, but this'll be a bit slow, as your moving it in water. He created an EaseComponent that can be added to any actor which eases the actor to a given location (with options to have it ease to face it and more). This EaseComponent will be used for basic Fish AI. The final thing he did with Fishing today was allowing the bobber to now be moved around in water, using the EaseComponent. Unrelated to fishing, he investigated some issues with the media player.
@Johanna made some finishing touches on the first version of the autumn plaza.
@Caboose700 continued to setup monitoring systems for the dedicated servers.
@Deniz worked on fixing blueprints for the engine upgrade.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you all tomorrow!
