Daily Dev Log for November 28th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, November 28th, 2017.
@Zak setup his build environment on his laptop for a Unreal testbed. He converted the Workshop / Arcade projects to work with Unreal Engine version 4.18. To do this, he had to switch to the new graphics pipeline state implementation for RHI (because direct RHICommandList calls were removed). He also moved his custom shaders into plugins, replaced deprecated function calls in the Slate and Render Code, and wrestled with the UPlugin module loader failing constantly. Lastly, the workshop model data is now managed with a UniquePtr to a UStruct resource rather than sitting in a UObject as a naked pointer.
@macdguy doesn't work Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
@Lifeless helped test Little Crusaders with @Caboose700, @Madmijk, and @Johanna after the Unreal Engine 4.18 upgrade to look for regressions. He also worked on a winter item for the upcoming winter event.
@Madmijk continued designing character item code for Zombie Massacre, and helped test maps for regressions.
@Johanna continued working on the holiday version of the Plaza. She made further improvements to the new plaza brick texture, which is higher resolution, and it now blends between the pillars and the walls in the shops area. She setup doorways/etc for the upgrade store and aligned it with the map, and cut into some level brushes to make room for it. In the future it just needs to be added to the level stream list and it's ready to go. She continued adding holiday decorations, as well as fixing a lighting build crash in the Plaza. Outside of the Plaza, she helped test Little Crusaders maps for regressions.
@Caboose700 played through Little Crusaders maps with @Lifeless, @Madmijk, and @Johanna to look for regressions. He also tried to look into an issue with building lighting for the Plaza on his computer, and began creating the virtual machine server for the long-term art storage solution.
@Wergulz continued working on the Akimbo animation set.
@donglekumquat continued working on music for Zombie Massacre.
@Deniz regression tested both the Art Studio and House condos. He attempted to reproduce two crash issues that occur with condo joining / disconnecting, and conducted some preliminary testing on the Subway level of Virus. He also played with time-stepped physics some more.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you all tomorrow!
