Daily Dev Log for November 10th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, November 10th, 2017.
November 10th Development Stream
@Zak continued working on Global Chat. Today he fixed an issue where sometimes the chat window wouldn't properly auto-scroll to new messages, and talked with @Foohy about how the chat UI works so that he can start integrating it with the global chat system.
@macdguy updated the item manifest to include the Copycat tool, fixed a typo in the item tags for "Processors", and fixed the character dialogue "nearby events" playing through walls. He also updated the dialogue manifest with new lines by @MrSunabouzu.
He continued working on the Condo Tool weapons, finishing the copycat tool, adding effects and sounds. He also made sure that tool weapons cannot be used in the Lobby and can only be used by admins of condos, and created the icon for the Copycat tool.
He made some UI changes, cleaning up the menu tabs so they look more like tabs, cleaned up the game world menus a bit to make them less cluttered, and changed the words "HOST" to "CREATE A GAME" to make it clearer for some people. He fixed a bug with the appearance editor menu and the rotation of the player, and fixed up bugs with the server browser, removing the dumb .0 from the spin boxes by using @Madmijk's spin box.
He also worked on Fishing, fixing several Fish AI states and weird behavior, such as fishes just disappearing without playing their scare away animations. He also fixed several fishing gameplay state issues, started adding effects for the struggle minigame, and cleaned up the fishing game base by moving all the gameplay code into a game instance so that the game instance is in control of everything instead of the code being all over the place. Lastly, he started working on a prototype of the Fishing HUD.
@Foohy worked on creating quake / source like movement to the player controller.
@Lifeless continued working on art for the Plaza.
@MrSunabouzu helped write dialogue for the Holiday Exchanger, made some christmas lights, and worked on the frost pile.
@Madmijk continued working on items for fishing.
@Johanna continued working on the Plaza. Today she improved the Plaza's lighting during the night and improved the transition between day and night, so that there is no longer a brief period of odd blackness around the plaza before moonlight appears. She also added the Halloween item converter NPC to the seasonal store, made several improvements, and finished the final version of the 2017 Autumn Plaza.
@Caboose700 continued working on implementing server monitoring tools.
@Wergulz continued working on the Zombie Idle animation variants.
@Krionikal started working on a Christmas garland model.
@Deniz continued migrating the settings to the new system for the engine upgrade.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you all tomorrow!
