Daily Dev Log for June 15th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, June 15th, 2017.
@Zak has been working more on the 2D Arcade API. Today he added some debug messages to the Arcade Unreal plugin to try to find the cause of a bug where screens would stop rendering. He also spent some time researching thread synchronization in Unreal Engine, specifically render fences. In addition, he made sure that Lua errors would be logged to the native application being run, and added some comments to key areas of the API source code to allow other programmers to understand what’s going on. In the same vein, he cleaned up some old boilerplate and test code in the Arcade Tool. He also made the Texture Manager in the Unreal Plugin flush render commands on texture load, in an attempt to prevent a race condition with the rendering thread, which will require more testing to ensure it fixes some issues. Lastly, he created a basic numeric font for scorekeeping in the shooter demo.
@macdguy fixed some issues with the Tower Unite 0.3.1.4 patch that came up during testing. He’s also been working on finishing the elimination system, setting up the lobby introduction HUD for game types, and the team status indicators HUD for Laser Tag.
@Foohy has been busy with school work and finals.
@Lifeless continued work on the Containership map for SDNL. He spent the day modeling parts of the Containership itself, and fixed issues with fog.
@Matt fixed a collision bug in Toy Room, and began work on the new store page trailers.
@Madmijk started working on the light panel item that will go with the Art Studio.
@Johanna created the collision model for the Galaxy Friends arcade machine. She finished the models for the Galaxy Friends and DESTROY arcade machines. She also worked on the lighting and interior design of the Arcade. Lastly, she created blueprint actors for the Salmon Says, Wheely Rigged, and Birb Sky Arcade Machines in preparation for coding their logic.
@Caboose700 created and tested clients and servers for the Tower Unite 0.3.1.4 patch. He also continued work on prototyping the Salmon Says arcade machine, and performed some server management. He also approved and rejected some trivia questions.
@Wergulz continued working on the “Right Run” cycle.
@donglekumquat continued his work on the Underwater Condo sound pass. He’s almost finished placing down the soundscape triggers for the Condo, and finished some things with the audio volumes. He also started working on point-source sounds in various places in the condo. He’s also been working on the music for the Khromidro Ball Race level, working out the first verse and chorus.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you tomorrow!
