Daily Dev Log for July 11th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, July 11th, 2017.
@Zak continued working on Steam Workshop integration. Today he fleshed out the mesh builder and construction context on the model compiler, and then explained details about the compiler with @Foohy so that he can make a C# UI for it in the future. He also wrote a small test program to call library functions, which will eventually compile the first model to test with in Unreal. Lastly, he made a really neat space paint material.
@macdguy fixed an issue with Spin 2 Win not clearing the game states properly. He also play-tested the Khromidro Ball Race map. During the day, he had to take care of internal company matters, and tried to wrangle together an Australian VPS provider, but spiders happened. He wrote up on dead trees (paper) a basic Lobby event system while talking to his mom on the phone, and planned more Cooking recipes. Lastly, he had an intense and decisive debate on Fusing items with @Foohy @Zak and @Caboose700, but it was resolved and everyone's all happy-go-lucky again. Yay!
@Foohy fixed a bug in Ball Race where the host had an advantage, and could move before anyone else could. While working in Ball Race, he added camera collisions to the Ball Race pawn for the upcoming map, Khromidro, and added debounce to the Ball Race bounce sound effects. He also created a prototype for storing item references in the condo data, which will be used to allow items to directly interact with other items, such as a button and a lamp. Lastly, he finished implementing the rest of the async blueprint nodes needed for Fishing, and talked more about how Cooking will work with @macdguy.
@Lifeless continued working on art for the new rail-based Shooting Gallery ride, and the visual upgrades for the Minigolf map, Waterhole.
@MrSunabouzu continued working on items for Fishing.
@Madmijk added a radius setting to the editable menu for light items.
@Johanna continued her work on the art for the Virus map, Solar.
@Caboose700 monitored the lobby servers during the Steam Maintenance, created some cooking recipes, discussed cooking with @macdguy, and approved / rejected Trivia questions.
@Wergulz made some fixes to the run cycle animations. He revisited the “Forward Crouch” animations because it felt stiff and not dynamic enough, despite how finished it was. He changed the base pose which helped to really improve it, and it was a much needed change. He also started working on the “Backwards Crouch” animations.
@donglekumquat continued working on music for the Ball Race map, Khromidro, starting to piece together the long sections of the song.
@Krionikal worked on animations for the Fishing Rod item, in preparation for Fishing.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you tomorrow!
