Daily Dev Log for August 8th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, August 8th, 2017.
@Zak wrote a system for templated network protocol creation, that will drastically simplify networking in C++ across platforms and applications. He then implemented this protocol in the Global Chat server, and made the protocol compatible with Unreal Engine. He fixed some compiler warnings in the socket implementation, converted the Global Chat server to Unicode to support wide strings, and helped play-test the upcoming Virus map, Solar.
@macdguy fixed the Lobby server browser not refreshing properly, and added support for selling condos. He changed the logic of the Drop down UI menu so that it no longer closes when your mouse moves off of it, and increased the size of the scroll bar in the Inventory UI. He converted the football, football net, and beer keg models into items, and created logic for the football net to detect goals. He also updated the item manifest, disabled sparks and smoke from muzzle flashes, and helped play-test the upcoming Virus map, Solar.
@Foohy helped @macdguy fix the Lobby server browser not refreshing properly, and continued to work on the Global Chat server with @Zak. They went over the new protocol and started switching their work over to it. Lastly, he helped play-test the upcoming Virus map, Solar.
@Lifeless got the graphical update to Waterhole ready for release, and continued working on the exterior of the Nature store. He also made a discovery about the Canvas items, finding out they are 3 draw calls each, got very angry, and will work on fixing it tomorrow.
@Matt is still sick but started converting his supergrid blockouts to models.
@MrSunabouzu continued working on materials for Zombie Massacre.
@Madmijk is out of town visiting family.
@Johanna participated in play-testing for Solar, fixing some bugs that came up during the tests, getting it ready for release. She also continued working on art for the upcoming Ball Race map, Oasis.
@Caboose700 build multiple production light builds of both Waterhole and Solar, participated in play-tests of both Waterhole and Solar, and started creating clients and servers for the upcoming Tower Unite 0.3.5.0 update.
@donglekumquat continued working on gun sounds for Virus, in addition to general music.
@Krionikal continued working on new animations for the Double Barrel shotgun.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you all tomorrow!
