Daily Dev Log for August 10th, 2017
Hey everyone! Here’s what everyone on the team has been working on over the course of today, August 10th, 2017.
Discussion about Condo Tools
Today the team had a discussion about Condo Tools. Condo Tools are individual weapons that can perform a specific action on a item placed in a condo. A good example of a Condo Tool is the "Copycat", which is an tool that can copy item properties (color, material, image URL, etc) and optionally copy the rotation, and apply it to another item.
We also came up with the notion that we would add another inventory hotbar. Non-weapon items (such as speed shoes and the Jetpack), would be placed on a separate hotbar than weapon items (condo tools, potato gun, etc). The Weapon hotbar would use the 1-8 keys to quickly switch between the different weapons.
Each tool will be a separate item that would have to be purchased at a Plaza store. Each of these tools would have settings that could be set by pressing the reload button. The bulk of this meeting was coming up with many unique tools and weapons.
@Zak worked to bring Quaternions into Blueprint to make rotating things easier.
@macdguy created an item property weapon that copies properties from one item to another easily. He also continued working on Fishing. He added logic to the fishing rod so that it can properly find fishing volumes, fixed an issue where the rod could not get mouse inputs when needed, created custom code for throwing the bait, and added logic to freeze player movement while casting.
@Foohy continued refactoring the Global Chat sender. He also worked on the Blueprint integration, and made some more tweaks with the internal administration tools.
@Lifeless continued working on the Nature store.
@Matt continued working on things.
@MrSunabouzu worked on sculpting models for Zombie Massacre.
@Madmijk continued creating models for his SDNL map.
@Johanna play-tested the upcoming Ball Race map, Oasis, fixed bugs that came up during the test, made gameplay improvements to it, and continued creating art for it as well.
@Caboose700 participated in the play-test of Oasis, continued working on the Blueprint portion of the Moderation API, and participated in the discussion of Condo Tools.
@donglekumquat is in the process of moving.
@Krionikal finished working on the new animations for the double barrel shotgun, and added sway to weapons.
That’s what everyone at PixelTail Games has been working on today! See you all tomorrow!
