Casino: High-risk Extreme bets

Allow players to bet high custom amounts of units, with the chance of winning decreasing with the money bet.
Make sure to explain the new system upfront, as well as disclosure the odds on the machine itself, so people don’t get salty.

The logic behind this addition is simple- by doing this, the casino would allow for actual gambling (with a big chance of losing and a small chance of winning big), while keeping the beloved gameplay casino’s been home to so far. (the mostly money-earning time-killing kind)

Casino should be random and not depend on amount of credits you bet.

Bad idea.

Hmm…

What interests me is the fact that the chances decrease as opposed to what most would probably suggest as an increase. After all, you do pay more, so the usual logic follows that you should have an easier time due to the investment.

But the idea of increasing the risk along with the reward on a scale is intriguing, and I like it a lot more than higher bets translating to more guaranteed payouts. With this, people can’t complain about the casino being a profit grind since the chances are significantly lower than usual. Winning a jackpot would be exceptionally well paying, but the chances are even lower than the usually complained about odds currently. It’s a very dynamic way of solving problems some people see in the casino.

I think I like this idea, but as you said the fact that odds decrease MUST be disclosed if using custom bets. I do assume that the current 1/3/5 chip system won’t have their odds touched, just the custom bets (which should have a minimum of 10 chips if you ask me).

Yeah. The base idea was letting anyone gamble a meaningful portion of their units without breaking the in-game economy. If the odds didn’t decrease, players would begin earning exponentially more and more units with each win (More money–>bigger bets–>more money).

This is not as much of a problem in real casinos, because the odds are always set in the house’s favor, something that wouldn’t translate well into TU (mostly because the game is supposed to be… well… fun)

inb4 more salt over casino if this came to game

“you need to have big money to make good profit out of this machine, suxx”

“this noob gets more jackpots in minutes than me when I play for hours, suxx”

Most of wom machines vary around 600-900 thousand credits jackpot, increasing value of units you’d get for winning it would give you more useless units which you couldn’t even spend (even after buying each condo you’d be left with high amount of units, do math).

If you really want to decrease chance for jackpot for machines which actually take now hours to get (never forgetti 2 mil wom machine), you really want to make casino empty. Go on.

As the odds would decrease with the money bet, gambling away “big money” wouldn’t result in a profit very often

The system has nothing to do with time played. Veterans could still bet low ammounts.

That’s why the chance to win’s decreasing.

I never said that. You could still bet the standart 1, 2, or 5 credits and have exactly the same odds you have currently. Only if you chose to go overboard the odds would decrease.

And how many people would use that without giving up?

I don’t know, do you?

First tip: Try to imagine what happens when this feature comes into game. What would happen? How would people react to it?

Sometimes people think something can be good when it can turn out to be bad in practice.

I think this could be a very well received feature, allowing rich players to gamble meaningful amounts of units for a small chance to get a huge jackpot. I wouldn’t suggest it otherwise.
I can’t be sure though.

[/quote]That doesn’t make sense, every game already has set parameters that dictate the RNG, just like real life.

If you didn’t read carefuly, it’s about increased/decreased chance. It’s even in the most frequent comment!

All it does it adjust one parameter out of several that are already in place, I don’t see why it’s needs to be debated over.

I’ve especially been waiting for some high risk games in the casino, and the only thing that comes close is the high stakes poker I think most people don’t even know about.
