A bit of nostalgia and reminiscing

Mainly due to the fact I just recieved all the old trophies and old GMT items, as well as that lobby one gold cutout thing, and boy did the waves of nostalgia hit me hard.

I’m curious if anyone remembers as far back as lobby one this group of people who would always hang out in the casino playing poker and making bank because holy shit they were good at virtual gambling. One notable thing about this group was an older lady who was in her 30’s I think, and they’d always be chatting and talking about anything while playing poker. I remember always hanging out with these people occasionally taking part in the game, even though I lost everytime. I know Greenhorse remembers them, since we both ended up becoming friends through them, though I’m not sure anyone here might remember someone by that name.

It gets me thinking that whenever the casino is fully up and running that I might see them all again, and I swear if I see them all on day one of the casino being available I’m probably gonna freak the fuck out in the best way possible. I might have to dawn the name Beta Mumbles again, since I had that name for about a year while playing GMT, so they’d recognize me.

I’m actually beginning to wonder if any of those people made forum accounts here. It’s actually a really weird feeling losing contact with people in the age of the internet, but regardless some of my best memories of GMT was hanging out with them on a near daily basis.

Now enough of my personal rambling, I got a question for everyone here; What is your most nostalgic memory in GMT?

Most nostalgic, definitely some of the lobby 1 shenanigans that I had with some friends, and hanging out in the casino in lobby 1&2

My most nostalgic memories were when I visited Mac’s suite and whenever the devs would become giant spiders and dinosaurs.

i liked goofing around the tower with friends!
and going to easter eggs with them like the moon easter egg or the MIB easter egg (it was MIB right? im not thinking of something else am i?) but yeah those were the good old days

Me being such an excited little kid about getting the first Ball Race Milestone.
Yeah, I was pre-pubescent when I first played GMT.
But tbh, I hardly have any memorable moments in GMT :pensive:

My most nostalgic moment would definitely be the first 2 days I played Tower. Something about the ambiance and the mini games just drew me in.

While it didn’t happen often for me (as I tend to be an introvert), I do fondly remember a couple of times spontaneous roleplaying happened (both back in Lobby 1, oddly enough). One such time was when I took out my suicide gun and attempted to rob a suite. Police got involved, a detective got called to the scene, I died and returned, the shenanigans were very silly.

Another memorable moment was shorter, spontaneous, and (once again) silly. I had my suicide gun out (again), but this time another player looked at me and recognized what this gun did. He told me “Don’t do it!” and other such phrases before taking out a confetti gun and saying something along the lines of “If you don’t put that away, I’ll have to kill you.” Tensions were high. “One…” Sweat was dripping. “Two…” My fingers were shaking. “Three.” He fired the confetti gun and I fell over. I was dead. “I’m sorry man, but it had to be done.”

There’s just something unique about Tower in general, such as the ability to spontaneously roleplay without the game trying to force it on you. It’s an option anyone can do, and there are tools with which to do it, but it’s not the highlight of the game. It’s not an arbitrary feature that was thrown in, it’s a natural development of players being players.

Going to the Suite Sweets lobby.
Talking to the lady behind the counter.
Watching people going in and out of each others suites.
Playing the Game Worlds.
to buy furniture for my suite.

Honestly, this idlescreen brings back so much. Probably 1/2 because it was around when I started playing GMT, and 1/2 because it was the idlescreen in GMT for around three(?) months, so it was there for a while.
Other than that, I remember playing a TON during summer 2014 (I think it was summer 2014, memory’s kinda fuzzy), but some people were relentlessly DDoSing the servers until the servers switched. Couldn’t play much games, but I got almost all the lobby achievements.
Also remember a mock wedding ceremony which ended with one person of the couple turning into a T-Rex and eating the other. Don’t remember the names, unfortunately.
There’s a lot of stuff, honestly, like the older lobby minigames (balloons, plane wars) and the VIP beta testing, but it’s too much to list here.

One of my most nostalgic moments was watching synchronized videos with my friends for the first time way back in 2012.
It was a lot of fun! Even if our video choices weren’t always the greatest…
